Biography

 

 

Boris Manner

born 1961 in Carinthia icon_cam, Austria. Studied philosophy in Vienna, where he was also trained in culture management. First experiences in
curating by participating in the Gütersloh exhibition in Baden bei Wien in 1982 (curated by Heribert Hutter). Working with Hermann Nitsch
as “Erster Akteur” icon_cam 1981 / 1982. Organised a series of lectures on art theory from 1984 – 1987 icon_cam (”art & concepts of art”, Secession Vienna,
Palais Clam Gallas, Vienna). Participated from 1987 – 1995 in several film projects as an actor, writer and director. Among others in “Malina”
1991 by Werner Schroeter as assistant director, “Der Fall Ingeborg Bachmann” 1990 as director, “Der Fall Lucona”, 1993 by Jack Gold as actor.
Worked from 1992 – 1996 as assistent director for the ORF (Austrian Broadcast) in the department of music. 1995 – 2008 personal assistant of
Walter Cronkite during his work for PBS in Vienna. Since 1997 research work for Anselm Kiefer. Curated several exhibitions for Stella Art Foundation
in Moscow, Venice and Istanbul, 2006 – 2010. Working on the bequest of the late Theodor Allesch/Alescha since 2008. icon_cam Teaches at the University
of Applied Arts in Vienna since 2001. Works as a writer, curator and culture manager.
